2D1N KL Food Trip

Been very stressed out for not getting to go hanging around after knowing my family is going to Hokkaido end of June (well, I'm excluded for the trip for some reason which you will know later in this post).
Since it's Agong's Birthday on the 6th June, Chris promised to bring me to KL for a short getaway (Hooray to the lovely hubby)!

One thing I've been craving for long is the famous KL chili pan mee! Honestly I do not know how to describe the yummy-ness, you should just try out yourself.

Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee

From what Chris told me before, this is an old shop and the old man in the shop is the creator of this yummy pan mee! From an old shoplot, they are now having a few more branches in KL & Selangor area.

Something really special about the pan mee is their special made chili (secret recipe which some weird people even stealing the chili home).

Very spicy chili making you sweat but you will still ask for more! Combination of pan mee, minced pork, soft boiled egg, deep fried anchovies (ikan bilis goreng) and a few spoonful of chili .... Fuyoh! Irresistible!
You can also make a side order of their fish ball, pork meatball and fish beancurd.
The price is not as cheap but I would say the food is well worth for what you pay!

After a satisfying lunch, Chris and I went for a movie. Would really recommend this movie "SPY" to you! Not just a normal comedy but a comedy with storyline. Jason Statham is such a talented comedian I would say! So big different from his role in Fast 7 lol
Anyway, it's a good movie to have you relax!

Time to check in to hotel after movie. I have to say this about myself... I have a very weird habit that I always stick to the same thing (eg. hotel, facial, hairstylist etc) once I felt comfortable with it and that it is difficult for me to swap or change. I mean... the main point is I chose the same hotel AGAIN for my one night stay in KL. Here's the hotel I feel very comfortable with... VIVATEL KL
Well, it's a four star hotel with reasonable price and comfy bed!

So when you have a short trip, the trip will totally become food hunting trip where you will just keep on eating lol
Yes, I admit! Cause we are already thinking where and what to eat for dinner (we went out around 7+ pm though --- Chris was so into his TOS game)! Anyway, we decided to go to Morganfield's for pork ribs!

MORGANFIELD'S @ PAVILION KL

Basically you will get to taste pork ribs with different flavours and some other meat, poultry, sides, salads etc. Browse their website www.morganfields.com for the menu. It's been way too long since I last had BBQ pork ribs back in Aussie (Hurricane's @ Sydney https://hurricanesgrill.com.au).

We ordered half slab of Garlicky BBQ Spare Ribs serving with coleslaw and french fries & Chili Loco Taco (taco filled with chili concarne with lettuce, julienne tomatoes, red onions topped with guacamole, sour cream and mixed cheese, serving with smoky baked beans and french fries).

Yummy! I really love that taco! The combination of the chili concarne, sour cream and guacamole made an extra excite in the mouth!
The spare ribs is soft and tender; the garlic really brought a different taste to the ribs! ***remind me of Hurricane's pork ribs, still, I'll say Hurricane's is better. Anyway, Morganfield's pork ribs did not disappoint me either***

After a good and filling dinner, I was already feel like sleeping lol (really pig).

Waking up in the morning, bringing the "still sleepy eyes" but hungry stomach to have the last round of food hunt before heading back home! So, it was around 11am. Best time for brunch! Well, I've been hearing people talking or sharing photos on Instagram/ Facebook of yummy brunches in KL area. Finally had the chance to have a try!

Our last decision -----> ANTIPODEAN COFFEE @ BANGSAR

I'm not sure if the shop is always crowded, it was full house with people queuing outside when we arrived. Anyway, we didn't have a long wait.
Nice coffee scent in the shop, people eating with joy and leaving the shop with satisfaction. Well, I can tell they are happy with the food and service here.
Something I found special about the shop is its menu! They do not have a typical menu booklet or hardcopy... the menu is written on the wall! Very special! However, it may be difficult for you to read if you are seated far from the menu or your angle from the menu is just not right lol

Haven't been eating western style brunch for LONG....

Chris ordered a Big Breakfast and I had Eggs Benedict.

Big Breakfast with toast, pork sausage (or you can choose from bacon, chicken, beef and pork sausage), sauteed mushrooms, scrambled egg and hash brown

Eggs Benedicts with two toast, bacon, pouched eggs topped with hollandaise sauce, served with salads (yummmm~ always my favourite)

So, we could mark a perfect full stop after yummy brunch and short shopping time @ One Utama. Very satisfied with this trip despite the long and tiring journey!

Anyway... I was excluded for Hokkaido Trip because I'm carrying Baby G now~
So it's Baby G first trip to KL (in my tummy lol) !

Showing off my 23 weeks baby bump =P

The Factory 30 by Just Want Coffee @ Mount Austin

Have been hearing people saying or blogging about The Factory 30... I wonder what so attractive about it and so Chris and I finally decided to have a visit to this well known cafe.

Well, a reason why the cafe is named The Factory 30 is that the cafe is actually located in an industrial area and yes, IT IS built up of a semi-D factory! Nice idea to have a cafe in the industrial area - (i) bigger area to serve more customers; (ii) quite convenient for those craving for coffee during working hours; (iii) of course, very creative idea!

Nice ambiance in the cafe; well designed and decorated. The owner done some renovation and modified it into 2 levels cafe.

You can see many equipments which are needed for a Barista to brew a good coffee aligned nicely on the bar. Good material + Good Equipments + Good Barista =  Good Coffee

Browsing through the food and beverage menu.
I love cafe, I love smelling coffee but I don't drink coffee (too bad that I have a bad gastric)... So as usual I'll just skip every pages of coffee to tea or chocolate lol

Camwhoring while waiting for our orders to be served

Cold Earl Grey Tea - RM10
My all-time favourite tea - first time trying the cold one. With it's nice scent, I guaranteed this Earl Grey is definitely a premium one! Chris tried a few sips and he loves it too!

Christmas special - Nicholas Sangria Coffee + Strawberry Shortcake - RM26/set
Special creation only available from 1-31 December.

Nicholas Sangria Coffee - Dark chocolate surrounded by a mild coffee aroma and lingering with Earl Grey taste.

Strawberry Shortcake - Spongy shortcake layered with Mascarpone cheese whipped cream and fresh strawberry slices.

This strawberry shortcake is superb! The shortcake's texture is smooth, with thick and creamy whipped cream; the combination of strawberry light sourness and the sweetness of cake and cream definitely brings an aftertaste to my mouth ~

Smoked Ham and Egg Sandwich - RM26.90
Home made bagel serving with smoked ham, omelette, mushrooms, nachos & salad topped with grated Parmesan cheese. The bagel is really nice - crispy outside and soft inside

Such a nice place to hang out and tea...!

Ilakkias Curry House @ Senai

Since I started working in Senai, I began to look for food surrounding this area. Senai is a place where I concluded to be a "hard to look for food" place! Anyway, there's still some very famous food here such as bitter gourd soup, Senai fried chicken and curry!

I remember I discovered an authentic Indian curry house hiding in a back valley of an industrial park when I was driving around to look for food.
Ilakkias Curry House sells all kind of curries and the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner are all different. I've tried all three but I'll first blog about their breakfast!

Ilakkias serves prata, nan, poori, thosai with a variety of flavors.Chris and I went for an early breakfast before sending me off to work. Here's our breakfast to start the day!

Poori served with 2 curry gravies and a potato side dish

Plain thosai served with 3 curry gravies.

Can't really remember what's the price for each already but the price is very reasonable. It only cost us less than RM10 for poori, thosai and 2 cups of teh tarik. Ilakkias also serving local favourites - nasi lemak, mee goreng and some Indian kuih-muih.

This is the first Indian restaurant in JB I found authentic (even their staff are all Indian from India) and nice to have a try! Must try their lunch for Briyani - you will love it for sure!

Singapore Hunt - Bugis Junction

It's been a while since my last entry; finally getting my feet back on my blog again - which also means that I'm gonna eat, play, love and blog alot (wait a minute! maybe not alot but a little bit more than nothing).
Headed to Singapore with my cousin, Vivian the other weekend to do girls' hunt ...... SHOPPING & EATING

Basically we spent lotsa our times in Dorothy Perkins. They are having a promotion of getting $60 off when you purchase $120 and above. Wow! Sounds attractive right! Got a few pieces from DP.

Met my new favourite superhero from the Disney movie "Big Hero 6" - Baymax! The scene when Baymax put on cellophane tape was really the most "bestest" part ever for me lol

Lotsa eating after shopping....

Miam Miam @ Bugis Junction

I like this name of Miam Miam.. Sounds yummy
Incorporating French cuisine with Japanese preparation and cooking arts, Miam Miam brings unexpected surprises to our tongues!
Some of the signature menu as followed ~

Milestrone soup with buttered toast - $7.80
It's on the special daily menu. With assorted veggies and tomatoes cooked with pork broth; eating with buttered toast dipping in the soup... Yum~ eating it when it's a cold rainy day will be so perfect!

Miam Miam Capellini - $15.80
Browsing through the menu and this dish really caught our attention. Spaghetti sautéed with frankfurters, tomatoes, baby spinach & pork bacon; well tossed with french butter and Miam Miam's special broth and shoyu. It was also topped with a beautiful soft boiled egg.
Surprising smooth texture of  noodles when mixing the egg with the other ingredients.

The French Toast - $15.80
All times favourite among Miam Miam's guests (according to the them). Well, I can see it's quite true as almost every table has this dessert on it. Special thick french toast cubes served with maple syrup and whipped cream (yes, it's whipped cream not ice cream); you can have ice cream for topping instead with an additional charge. Must try!

Also, it's their one year old @ Bugis Junction! Happy Birthday ~~~

I love the first try @ Miam Miam. Would definitely come back again!

One more time

One more time, baby... One more time baby...
A Chinese song by Raymond Lam (Lam Fung). The song has been out for a while, it's not that I just listening to it... I've been listening for quite a while (Of course!!! I'm a super big fan of Lam Fung!).
Lam Fung's first Mandarin album - First 第一次. Yes first time he has all Mandarin songs in an album ^^.
The more I listen to this song, the more I become obsessed to it =P
Lam Fung has lotsa dancing to do in this song and I think he did a really great job! You can watch the official MV in YouTube and the one I'm sharing here is the live version!
Look at Lam Fung doing dancing and singing on live! Such a great job! Undoubtedly, he is a really good singer (dancing and singing at the same time... not an easy job!).|
Enjoy Lam Fung's performance!!!

P/s: Lam Fung's latest album 《林峯LF》is out!!! 十扑 十扑 (support support) Okay ^.^

Warm and Sweet Chicken & Corn porridge

Again, freezing cold weather so I decided to cook porridge for dinner ^^
Have got some corns and a chicken drumstick... Shall I just cook chicken and corn porridge? YES!!! I have no choice lol!

Sharing my recipe with you~

Ingredients: - 1 chicken drumstick
                    - 1 sweet corn, chopped into small pieces
                    - 1 or 2 slices of ginger
                    - 1/3 cup of rice

Steps:

1. Wash rice, chicken and corn and chop corn into small pieces.
2. Cook rice in a pot until the water is boiled.
3. Put chicken and corn into the pot to cook with the rice when the water is boiled.
4. Cook for 45 minutes or until the rice is cooked thoroughly (or depending on how soft the rice you want it to be).
5. Seasoning with salt to suit your taste (the porridge is sweet enough so just add a little of salt will do).
6. Slice the chicken before eating.
7. Serve it hot!!!

Cooking in progress~
Tadah, the end product~
The sesames are just for decoration =P (you can eat them with the porridge as well if you like).

Look really good for me~
Warm and sweet... Best for winter!!!

Hope you like it! Bon appetit~

Triple Chocolate Muffin

Had some times to do cooking today. First experience baking triple chocolate muffin, so excited!!! Searched on the web to look for some recipes and I decided to adapt the recipe from taste.com.au ^^

Here's the recipe from the website:

Serves: 12

Ingredients:
  • 2 1/2 cups self-raising flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder, sifted
  • 100g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup white choc bits
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
Steps:
  1. Preheat oven to 190°C/170°C fan-forced. Line a 12-hole, 1/3 cup-capacity muffin pan with paper cases.
  2. Combine flour, cocoa, dark chocolate, white choc bits and brown sugar in a bowl. Make a well in the centre. Add milk, oil and egg. Using a wooden spoon, stir until just combined. (Tips: Don't overmix muffins, or they can become tough and chewy.)

    3. Spoon mixture into paper cases.

    4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until browned and cooked through.

This is how the muffins look after 5 minutes...

And after 15 minutes...

    5. Stand in the baking pan for 5 minutes.

    6. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

    7. Serve it =)

OMG!!! I don't believe that my first attempt turned out to be SUCCESSFUL!!! The muffin is surprisingly good! (Maybe I'm really talented lol =P)

I hope you enjoy it and have a try baking yourself

Chatswood BBQ Kitchen 好上好燒腊小厨 @ Chatswood

Dinner at Chatswood BBQ Kitchen (好上好燒腊小厨)~
Told you I would dine in the BBQ Kitchen one day and I finally did with a few friends, eating something more than just the BBQ! A dinner for four so three dishes should be enough. Had a really long look at the menu... well, yes they have lotsa dishes and it's so hard to decide what to eat (everything sounds good!) and here's our final decisions...

Tadah~

Roast duck and roast pork (燒鴨 & 燒肉)

Minced pork, eggplant and mushroom with fish sauce in hot pot (鱼香茄子煲)

Salt and pepper squid (椒鹽鱿鱼)

Honestly, they are all really good! Especially the hot pot, a very good choice when you eat it with rice! The BBQ are just as good as ALWAYS and this was my first time eating chinese style salt and pepper squid and they are really good!
Very satisfying dinner and I'll definitely visit the BBQ Kitchen again to try other dishes!!!

AND I was lucky enough to see someone who I haven't seen for ages after we finished dinner and headed to the Gelatissimo for gelato! He looks just the same as always ❤
